1981 marked a turning point at the company headquarters in Seeboden:
the opening of the first production facility for synthetic insulation fibers, the beginning of an intensive, research-driven development phase. About a decade later, this vision was further expanded: after five years of planning and construction, a state-of-the-art production facility for synthetic fibers was built in Slovakia, which is now one of the most advanced of its kind in the world.

The main goal was to precisely replicate the unique cluster structure of down, which is responsible for its outstanding insulating properties. This structure has been faithfully replicated using innovative technologies, as confirmed by extensive testing.

The 1970s saw the start of a revolution in insulation technology that challenged decades of down’s dominance as the benchmark for warmth, lightness, and compressibility. Down has long been considered the gold standard, valued for its excellent thermal performance and compact volume. In the mid-1970s, however, synthetic fibers emerged as a promising alternative, heralding a new era in materials science.
The challenge was to develop a synthetic fiber that could match the advantages of down. A key advantage of synthetic fibers was their resistance to moisture, which allowed them to maintain their insulating properties even when wet.
